Dr. Tal Ben Shahar, an internationally acclaimed teacher, best-selling author, and consultant in the areas of happiness and leadership, taught two of the most popular courses in Harvard’s history: Positive Psychology and The Psychology of Leadership. He developed the SPIRE model, a holistic, five-dimensional approach to fostering lifelong learning and promoting a happier, more fulfilling life, grounded in the latest happiness research.
The five dimensions of SPIRE are:
Spiritual well-being: What gives your life purpose and meaning? What values guide your actions?
Physical well-being: How do you nurture and care for your body, recognizing the powerful connection between physical health and mental well-being?
Intellectual well-being: How do you challenge your mind, encourage creativity, and cultivate a love of learning?
Relational well-being: How do you nurture relationships with others and yourself, contributing to and benefiting from the connections around you?
Emotional well-being: How can you enhance positive emotions and build resilience to cope with difficult emotions?
This holistic integration ensures a more comprehensive understanding of well-being in both personal and professional life.
